May 22, 2007View a Photo Essay of the Eighth Air Force Museum’s “Adopt-a-Plane” Program.

Initiated on May 7, 2004 by the 2 BW Commander, Col Mike “M2” Moeller, this program enlisted the aid of Barksdale AFB units and organizations to provide some TLC to the many museum assets.  Four months later, a ceremony was held to commemoratethe completion of Phase’s 1 & 2, which included the inspection, cleaning, repainting/repolishing and general maintenance of the Airpark Assets.

With your generous support, the 8AF Museum Association provided over $10,000 towards the purchase of cleaning supplies, paint and other items necessary to complete these important steps.  To this day, the adopting squadrons and organizations provide monthly inspections, and complete quarterly/annual checklist items to ensure that the History of Aerial Bombardment is alive and well cared for at the Eighth Air Force Museum!  These photo’s are a representation of literally thousands of hours of volunteer work.  Visit your 8AF Museum soon!

Aug 15, 2007 As we try to grow, we are asking for your help   The time has come to take serious action to build a new museum, as well as new storage, restoration and maintenance facilities.

These aircraft need to get out of the hot and humid NW Louisiana weather ASAP!

We need your financial assistance and manpower to further build our 8AF Museum Association into a full-fledged foundation, with a crack team of dedicated individuals who can go after state support, financial and building grants to make this dream come true.

If you can help, please call us and we’ll direct you to our Association President, Colonel Dave Lay (USAF, ret).
